Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Updated at 11.30am 16th February 2024
Wind:
The forecast issued this morning indicated the following:
10kts SW/SE on the Gold Coast, forecast to become 10-15kts SE/NE during the morning and 10-15kts SE/NE on the Sunshine Coast
We did mention that on rainy days the rain can often cause fluctuations in wind speed and direction. That’s what seems to have happened and currently winds are 10-15kts S/SE
Swell:
1-1.5m Easterly
Tides:
Low: 7.15am & 7.15pm … High: 1pm
Best waves:
With the winds now S/SE, there’s clean waves on the Gold Coast points, with Snapper Rocks to Coolangatta being best. There’s smaller waves on the bays at Noosa, but quality is pretty average
Best Beaches:
It’s a rainy day and not a good beach day. If you do go for a swim, do it in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags, particularly this afternoon on the ebb tide, when the water draining off the beach will enhance any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters
Check along the tide line for bluebottles before you go in the water, look for stinger warning signs in the patrolled areas, or ask a lifeguard. If you are stung, see the beach patrol for treatment
