Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.45am Wednesday 24th April 2024
Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy, with a slight chance of showers and a top temperature of 25-26°
Wind Forecast: 10kts SW/S early, becoming 10-15kts SE during the morning, easing a little through the day
Swell: 1-1.2m Easterly
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 8.02am … Low @ 2.08pm
Snapper Rocks: High @ 7.52am … Low @ 1.50pm
Best waves: The swell has decreased and with the forecast of moderate SE winds easing during the day, the points and bays on the northern side of headlands will have the cleanest waves. Look for beach breaks between Maroochydore and Caloundra and Currumbin to Coolangatta early while the wind is light SW/S
Best Beaches: In the forecast SE winds, the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will be the most pleasant beaches. The Easterly swell has decreased, but there’s still enough there combined with big tidal differences around the full moon to require caution if swimming in the surf, particularly along the open stretches of beach, where there’s inshore holes and gutters. Any rips and sweep working around those features will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the mid morning to mid afternoon ebb tide. Swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
