Spinning for Tailor – Martin Cowling

From the Coastwatch Vault, this story shot in August 1997 shows Martin Cowling’s tips on catching tailor on chrome slugs. In the story Martin is using a geared Alvey reel, which are no longer produced. If you have one keep it well maintained and if you haven’t and can get hold of one, grab it they are great for this type of fishing. You can use a non geared Alvey, you just have to wind faster.
