Should be perfect for a morning swim on the Gold or Sunshine Coast with current water temp at 21 degrees. Any of the open beaches will be safe until the afternoon wind blows and creates some gutters and rips.

SURFING / PADDLING / WATERSPORTS

Typical spring days with very small surf and plenty of wind each afternoon, making for some excellent downwind paddling, kiting or foiling conditions.

Keep an eye on the BOM radar Friday afternoon, as the forecast is predicting Southeast winds up to 15+ knots Saturday afternoon , and combined with a small and short period south swell, should be perfect for a SUP foil, or ocean ski, with the local guys on the Gold Coast looking at runs from Tweed bar to Currumbin.

Sunday will see the North wind building throughout the day into a solid 15knot+ push by the afternoon. Perfect conditions for a SUP Foil (with wing ding) or ocean ski, and the favoured course would be the Spit to Miami or Burleigh depending on your ability.

Safety TIP – always try to paddle in a group with high vis shirt and hat etc, always take some water!!!

For the surfers, not much in the way of swell, and not too much on the horizon unfortunately. Expect waves to be in the 1-2ft range, mostly South to Southeast wind swell. You can always have fun on a long board or a foamie!!

BOATING & FISHING

Tricky bar crossings with the early morning outgoing tides and wind conditions.

There are some Mackerel making their way down the coast and the Mahi Mahi are building up around the FADS. Floating live baits have been most successful this week, along with Pilchards on gang hooks.

The Sunshine Coast will be less windy, however probably still too much for the offshore fishing.

Don’t forget to check out the comprehensive COASTWATCH Fishing Report on the website covering Hervey Bay to Evans Head.

Overall, looks like a great weekend of weather so get out and enjoy it!!
