WEEKEND OUTLOOK FOR 15th, 16th, 17th NOVEMBER 2024. ISSUED THURSDAY 14th Nov at 12 noon.
WEATHER
What a week of thunderstorms it has been ! For most of the weekend, it looks as though the thunderstorm activity will ease and the trend has turned towards the East for wind and swell.
Day time temps hovering around 29 degrees with light east winds each afternoon.

Hervey Bay / Fraser Island Coast
Tides & Moon: Big morning tides around 8am at 1.8m and afternoon low tides around 2.45pm, with a full moon on Saturday night. For more tide and moon info, click here.

BEACH
The morning swims have been absolutely beautiful, and that should continue on the Gold and Sunshine Coast with current water temp at 22 degrees. The open beaches will be safest each morning before the afternoon seabreeze creates some rips and gutters.
SURFING
Typical spring days with very small surf, however, it should be more favourable for surfing than it has been over the past 2 weeks, with some surfable waves up and down the coast with the east swell starting Friday and building slightly throughout the weekend.
On the Gold Coast, to avoid the crowds, head for the open beaches from Palm Beach to the spit, and on the Sunshine Coast the best banks have been along Kawana Beach and Perigian. It will be best on the morning high tide before the wind gets up.

BOATING & FISHING
Early morning bar crossings should be mostly safe with big morning tides and light winds, however, take care on the way back in approaching lunchtime, as the run-out tide and onshore wind may create some tricky conditions.
The Sunshine Coast will have a little less swell and might make for better offshore fishing conditions, with Sunday the pick morning of the weekend right up and down the coast. The fish should be on the chew pretty hard on days either side of the November 16 full moon.
The Mackerel are schooling in big numbers on the Gold and Sunshine Coast, with floating live baits working best. Don’t forget to check out the comprehensive COASTWATCH FISHING REPORT on the website covering Hervey Bay to Evans Head.
Overall, looks like a great weekend of weather, a few possible light showers about, but not enough to spoil any outdoor plans, so get out and enjoy it!!
Nathan Meyer.
