Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.45am Saturday 25th May 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: Cloudy, very high chance of showers and a top temperature of 22-23°

Wind Forecast: 5-10kts SW/S early, becoming 10-15kts SE during the day

Swell: More of the same of what we’ve had all week. 0.75m E/SE on the northern ends of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and along the Tweed Coast. Smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands and flat on high tide and tiny on low tide in the inner bays at Noosa

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 8.48am … Low 2.41pm

Snapper Rocks: High @ 8.39am … Low @ 2.22pm

Best waves: With light SW/S winds early, look for small waves on the beach breaks and on the points. Around the morning high tide, the points are a bit full, but should improve either side of low tide, when there’s less water on the banks and will be the best options if the wind swings SE and freshens as forecast

Best Beaches: A cloudy day with a high chance of showers is forecast, it’s not looking like a good beach day. The forecast SW/SE winds are chilly and the best beaches offering shelter in winds from that direction are the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. It won’t be as pleasant on the open stretches of beach and there’s inshore holes and gutters along them. Any rips and sweep working around those features, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the morning to early afternoon ebb tide, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
