Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.45am Friday 3rd May 2024
Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy, with an 80% chance of showers on the Gold Coast and 95% chance on the Sunshine Coast. The top temperature is forecast to be 23-24°
Wind Forecast: 10-15kts S/SW early, becoming Southerly during the morning, swinging SE during the day and freshening to 15kts plus this afternoon
Swell: 1-1.2m E/SE on the northern ends of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and along the Tweed Coast. 1m E/SE in the bays on the northern side of headlands
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 3.50am & 4.29pm … Low @ 10.36am
Snapper Rocks: High @ 3.43am & 4.32pm … Low @ 10.32am
Best waves: There’s clean waves on the points and you could look for early beach breaks while the wind is S/SW between Maroochydore and Caloundra and Currumbin to Coolangatta. The Gold Coast Pro is scheduled at Snapper Rocks through Rainbow Bay until May 4th.. If it’s on today, you’ll have to surf outside the contest area, or at Currumbin Alley or Burleigh. On the Sunshine Coast, it’s once again, small in the inner the bays at Noosa, but you could check the outer bays for a bit more size on the lower parts of the tide. The Bluff at Alex and Moffats are worth a look
Best Beaches: There’s a high chance of showers, so not the best beach day. If you are going to the beach, in the forecast moderate to fresh SE winds, the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will offer shelter from the wind and be the safest beaches for a swim. There’s inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches of beach and any rips and sweep working around those features, despite the small tides, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the morning and late afternoon ebb tides, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
