Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.40am Sunday 24th March 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather: The forecast is for cloudy day with an 80% chance of showers and a top temperature of 23 degrees

Wind: Light S/SW early, becoming 10-15kts S/SE during the morning, freshening to 15kts plus on the Sunshine Coast in the afternoon

Swell: 1m E/SE, with the odd bigger one on the open beaches, a bit smaller in the inner bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 7.42am & 8.02pm … Low @ 1.59pm … Snapper Rocks: High @ 7.20am & 7.44pm … Low @ 1.41pm

Best waves: The swell has decreased a little and it looks like another day of S/SEwinds. Once again the points and bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Currumbin Alley, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will have the cleanest waves. They’ll be a bit full either side of this morning’s high tide, but should improve late morning as the tide falls off and there’s less water on the banks. It’s been very crowded on the points and it might be worth looking for early beach breaks while the wind is light SW/S to get a few waves with less people

Best Beaches: Showers are forecast again for today, so not the best beach weather. The predicted light to moderate S/SE winds mean the best and safest beaches for a swim will be the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay

It’s full moon tomorrow night, which means bigger tides, so on the ebb tide from mid morning to mid afternoon, any rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced as the extra volume of water drains off the beach. Swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
