Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.30am Tuesday 2nd April 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather: The forecast is for a partly cloudy morning with a 40-50% chance of showers, becoming mostly sunny this afternoon and a top temperature of 28 degrees

Wind: Light W/SW early, becoming variable this morning, tending N/NE this afternoon

Swell: 0.75m E/SE. Smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Mooloolaba: Low @ 9.01am … High @ 1.56pm

Snapper Rocks: Low @ 8.39am … High @ 2.15pm

Best waves: Not much doing today, the swell is small and lacking power and with light and variable winds forecast, the best options will be beach breaks on the open beaches and small longboard sliders on the points either side of low tide this morning. If the wind gets any stronger than 10kts N/NE during the day, look for beach breaks on the south side of headlands and Southport Spit

Best Beaches: Looking like a pretty good day for the beach, with a forecast of light and variable winds and a low to medium chance of a few morning showers, becoming sunny this afternoon. With the small swell, swimming in the surf is pretty safe, but be aware there’s deep holes and inshore gutters along the open stretches of beach and on the early morning and afternoon ebb tides, any rips and sweep working around those holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
