Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued 5.45am 4th February 2024
Wind:
5-10kt SW/NW winds early, forecast to become 10kts E/NE this morning, reaching 10-15kts this afternoon and tending more N/NE on the Gold Coast
Swell:
Easterly: 0.5-1m and lacking power
Tides:
High … 3am & 3pm … Low 9.30am …
Best waves:
The wind blew onshore until the early hours of this morning and although it’s SW/NW now, wave quality is pretty ordinary. Best options are once again to look for beach breaks or a few mal sliders on the points early while the wind is light offshore
Best Beaches: The forecast is for a partly cloudy day, but still use sun protection. Swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags, particularly early this morning and late this afternoon on the ebb tides, when the water draining off the beach enhances the rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters
With onshore winds for the past couple of days, bluebottles may have been blown or washed inshore. Check along the tide line before you go in the water, look for stinger warning signs in the patrolled areas, or ask the beach patrol if there’s any about
