Gold & Sunshine Coast Forecast Issued at 5.40am Monday 25th March 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather: Today’s forecast is cloudy with an 80-90% chance of showers and rain and a top temperature of 23 degrees

Wind: Light S/SW early, forecast to become S/SE during the morning and 10-15kts E/SE this afternoon

Swell: 1m E/SE on the open beaches. Smaller in the inner bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 8.11am … Low @ 2.24pm … Snapper Rocks: High @ 7.50am … Low @ 2.06pm

Best waves: With the wind being light S/SW early, forecast to become S/SE during the morning, the cleanest conditions will be on the points and in the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Currumbin Alley, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. The swell is small and lacking power and waves will be full either side of the morning high tide, but should improve late morning as the tide falls off and there’s less water on the banks. If the wind swings E/SE this afternoon as forecast, wave quality will deteriorate. It might be worth looking for early beach breaks while the wind is light S/SW

Best Beaches: Cloudy with showers and rain is the forecast again today, so not the best beach weather. In the forecast winds, the best and safest beaches for a swim will be the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay

It’s full moon tonight, which means bigger tides, so on the ebb tide from mid morning to mid afternoon, any rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced as the extra volume of water drains off the beach. Even on cloudy days, you can get sunburnt, so use sun protection and swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
