Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.30am 13th March 2024
Weather:
The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a 40% chance of showers on the Gold Coast and a 60% chance on the Sunshine Coast and a top temperature of 28 degrees
Wind:
15-20kts SE. Lighter S/SE on the southern Gold Coast early
Swell:
2-2.5m Easterly on the open beaches. Smaller in the inner bays on the northern side of headlands
Tides:
Low 4am & 4.30pm … High 10am
Best waves:
It looks a bit smaller this morning than the past couple of days, but it could pick up as the tide makes to a 10am high. There’s still a lot of water pushing around and it’s not for beginners. The points and bays on the north side of headlands will have the best waves and on the Gold Coast, Snapper Rocks to Kirra is the best and on the Sunshine Coast, Noosa is the go.
Most breaks will become too full either side of the mid morning high tide and early this morning and during the afternoon around the low tide, there’ll be less water on the banks and wave quality will better. The Noosa Festival of Surfing is on for the rest of this week, so there’ll be a lot happening at Main Beach and First Point
Best Beaches:
With the big swell and still pretty big tides, there’s a lot of water moving around and swimming in the surf is potentially dangerous. Some beaches will be closed and it’s important to not to go in the water if they are. If they are open, don’t go in unless you are a strong swimmer and if you do, don’t go out of your depth and swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
