Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 6.10am Saturday 22nd June 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: Gold Coast: Partly cloudy, with a 40% chance of showers and a top temperature of 21°

Sunshine Coast: Cloudy with a 70% chance of showers, most likely from late morning through the afternoon, with a top temperature of 20°

Wind Forecast: 5-10kts SW this morning, becoming 10kts SW/S during the day

Swell: 0.5m SE/E

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 7.51am … Low @ 1.45pm

Snapper Rocks: High @ 7.46am … Low @ 1.30pm

Best waves: The swell is small and lacking power. Not much doing apart from little waves on the points either side of low tide and tiny beach breaks on the open beaches. If you have to travel from Brisbane, it’s not worth the drive

For some surfing history, check the daily videos from the Coastwatch Vault at the bottom of this page

Best Beaches: Not the best day for the beach, particularly on the Sunshine Coast where there’s likely to be more showers than the Gold Coast. The forecast top air temperature is 20-21° and the water temperature is between 19 and 21°. The best beaches in the forecast SW/S winds will be the bays at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay and although the swell is small, you should still swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags. There’s inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches of beach and any rips and sweep working around them, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the mid morning to mid afternoon ebb tide
