Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued 5.35am 30 January 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Wind:

10kt S/SE winds early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE, possibly reaching 15-20kts this afternoon

Swell:

0.5-1m SE/E. With SE winds forecast for the next few days it may increase a bit

Tides:

Low 4.15am & 5.15pm … High 11am

Best waves:

If you’ve got a long drive to get to the beach, save the fuel, it’s really not worth it. The swell is still small and weak and there’s not much on offer for surfers, apart from small sliders on the points and in the bays on the north side of the Gold Coast headlands and Snapper Rocks to Coolangatta on the lower part of the tide this morning is the best of it. On the Sunshine Coast, there’s not much doing at the Bluff at Alex and Moffats. Noosa is tiny, but maybe a walk to the outer bays might produce a few rideable waves

Best Beaches:

It’s not looking like a good day for the beach with showers and possible storms forecast again for today. In SE winds, the best beaches for a swim are Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount, Mooloolaba and Main Beach Noosa

Swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags, particularly this afternoon on the ebb tide. As the water drains off the beach it will enhance the rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters
