Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.55am Thursday 30th May 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: The BOM is forecasting a partly cloudy day, with a high chance of showers and a top temperature of 24°

Wind Forecast: 5-10kts S/SE on the Gold Coast and E/SE on the Sunshine Coast early, forecast to become 10-15kts E/SE during the morning, swinging NE late this afternoon or early evening

Swell: 0.75m E/SE

Tides: Mooloolaba: Low @ 8.06am & 7.20pm … High @ 1.45pm

Snapper Rocks: Low @ 8am & 7.28pm … High @ 1.52pm

Best waves: Look for waves on the Gold Coast points this morning, but wave quality is pretty ordinary. With the wind onshore already on the Sunshine Coast, it looks like a day off is the best option .

Best Beaches: If The BOM weather forecast regarding the high chance of showers is correct and there must be some doubt about that, given their recent inaccurate forecasting regarding rain and showers, it won’t be a good day for the beach.

The best beaches offering shelter from E/SE winds are the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. There’s inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches of beach and any rips and sweep working around those features, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the early morning and afternoon ebb tides, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
