Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.55am Monday 20th May 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: Sunny, with a top temperature of 22°

Wind Forecast: 5-10kts SW early, becoming 10-15kts this morning, swinging S/SE late morning

Swell: 1-1.2m E/SE on the northern end of the Gold Coast and along the Tweed Coast. Smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands. On the Sunshine Coast the swell is a bit smaller and it’s pretty much flat in the inner bays at Noosa

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 5.42am & 6.34pm … Low 12.01pm

Snapper Rocks: High @ 5.43am & 6.29pm … Low @ 11.57am

Best waves: With light SW winds early, look for beach breaks on the open beaches. There’s waves on the points, but due to this morning’s high tide, they’re a bit full and should improve either side of low tide, when there’s less water on the banks and will be the best options if the wind swings S/SE as forecast

Best Beaches: The SW/SE winds will be cool and the best beaches offering wind shelter will be the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. It won’t be as pleasant on the open stretches of beach and there’s inshore holes and gutters along them. Any rips and sweep working around those features, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the morning ebb tide, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
