Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.45am Monday 6th May 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: The BOM is forecasting a partly cloudy day with a low chance of showers in the late afternoon and a top temperature of 24°

Wind Forecast: 5-10kts S/SW early, becoming Southerly at 10-15kts during the morning, tending S/SE in the afternoon.

Swell: 1m E/SE on the open beaches, a bit smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 6.20am & 7pm … Low @ 12.41pm

Snapper Rocks: High @ 6.31am & 7.07pm … Low @ 12.47pm

Best waves: Given the forecast of S/SE winds, the cleanest waves will be on the points. It’s a public holiday so will be crowded. It’s really small in the inner bays at Noosa, but it might be worth the walk to outer bays for a bit more size. You could look for less crowded beach breaks early, between Maroochydore and Caloundra and Currumbin to Coolangatta, while the wind is light S/SW

Best Beaches: It looks like being a pretty good day for the beach and the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will be the best in forecast S/SE winds. There’s inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches of beach and as we approach the new moon on Wednesday night, tidal differences are increasing. Any rips and sweep working around those holes and gutters will be enhanced as the increased volume of water drains off the beach on the morning ebb tide, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
