Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued 5.30am 11th February 2024
Wind:
Light Southerly early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE during the morning, reaching 15-20kts during the day
Swell:
1-1.2m Easterly
Tides:
High: 9.30am … Low: 3.45pm
Best waves:
Similar conditions to the past few days. The S/SE winds and the easterly swell are continuing, and once again, the cleanest waves will be on the points and in the bays on the north side of headlands. It’s been very crowded, particularly on the southern Gold Coast points and with a big mid morning high tide, the best quality waves will late morning and through the afternoon on the lower parts of the tide. It’s a bit smaller at The Bluff at Alex and in the inners bays at Noosa and a walk to the outer bays might find a bit more size
Best Beaches:
The forecast is for another partly cloudy day with a high chance of showers. The open beaches are a bit windy and the best beaches for a swim in SE winds are the sheltered bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay
It was New Moon last night and there’ll be big morning high tides for the next few days. When those big tides ebb, the increased volume of water draining off the beach enhances the rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters. Despite cloud cover, use sun protection and swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
Please have a look at “Learn to Read the Beach” on this page. It’s a good thing to learn how to identify and survive rips
