Weather Forecast: Cloudy with a 95% chance of showers and storms and a top temperature of 27 degrees

Wind Forecast: Light S/SW early, becoming 10-15kts NE during the day. Wind speed and direction could vary due to showers and storms

Swell: 0.5-0.75m E/NE

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 5.21am & 5.44pm … Low @ 11.59am

Snapper Rocks: High @ 5.10am & 5.45pm … Low @ 11.50am

Best waves: Since earlier when there were no waves on the points due to the small swell and a big morning high tide, the situation has improved as the tide has fallen off and there are small but clean point waves and beach breaks on offer while the wind is still light S/SW. It is forecast to become NE but that depends on the position of a trough laying along the coast

Best Beaches: Based on the weather forecast of showers and storms, it’s not looking like a good day for the beach. The swell is small, but there’s deep holes and inshore gutters along the open stretches of beach and on the morning ebb tide, any rips and sweep working around those holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach. Make sure you swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags

NE winds are forecast for today and in Nor’ Easters there’s always a chance of bluebottles being blown ashore. Check for them along the tide line before you go in the water, look for stinger warning signs in the patrolled areas, or ask the beach patrol if there’s been any around. If you are stung, seek medical assistance from the lifeguards
