Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.35am Friday 12th April 2024
Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy with 40-50% chance of late morning and afternoon showers and a top temperature of 26 degrees
Wind Forecast: 10kts S/SW early, becoming 10-15kts Southerly this morning, tending S/SE during the day and reaching 15kts plus at times
Swell: 1-1.5m E/SE. A bit bigger on northern ends of the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and the Tweed and Byron Coasts
Tides: Mooloolaba: Low @ 4.46am & 4.21pm … High 10.23am
Snapper Rocks: Low @ 4.59am & 4.23pm … High 10.43am
Best waves: With light S/SW winds this morning, look for beach breaks from Maroochydore to Caloundra and Currumbin to Coolangatta. The points will be worth checking early on the lower part of the tide, but will become too full either side of the mid morning high tide, improving during the afternoon as the tide falls off. If the wind swings Southerly, then S/SE as forecast, the points will be the best options
Best Beaches: It should be a partly cloudy day with a few late morning and afternoon showers, so the best time for the beach will be this morning. The best beaches in the forecast S/SE winds, will be the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay, where there is less wind. There are inshore holes and gutters along the beaches, particularly the open stretches and on the ebb tide from late morning through the afternoon, any rips and sweep working around those holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
