Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.35am 25th February 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather:

The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with morning showers, clearing during the day and a top temperature of 29 degrees

Wind:

5-10kts SWS early, forecast to become 10-15kts S/SE during the morning

Swell:

0.75-1m Easterly

Tides:

High: 9am & 8.30pm … Low 3pm

Best waves:

The swell has decreased, but there are small fun waves on the Gold Coast points, with Burleigh, Currumbin Alley and Snapper Rocks to Coolangatta offering the best quality. It’s small at Noosa and there’s a few sliders at The Bluff at Alex and Moffats

While the wind is light S/SW. there’s some fun breaks to be had on the open beaches. If it swings S/SE as forecast during the morning, the points will be the best option

Best Beaches:

Based on the forecast, the best beaches for a swim will the bays at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh. Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay and early on the making tide will be best. Use sun protection and swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags

It was full moon last night and there’s a big morning high tide. From mid morning to mid afternoon, when the tide ebbs, the increased volume of water draining off the beach will enhance any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters.
