Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.35am 15th February 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Wind:

Light and variable early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE during the morning, freshening to 15kts this afternoon

Swell:

1-1.2m Easterly

Tides:

Low: 6am & 6.30pm … High: Midday

Best waves:

Look for early beach breaks and point waves while the wind is light. When it swings SE and freshens, the points will be the go, with Snapper Rocks to Coolangatta being the best, but as always it’s crowded. On The Sunshine Coast, it’s smaller at Noosa and there’s a few waves at The Bluff at Alexandra Headland

Best Beaches:

The forecast is for a partly cloudy day, with an 80% chance of showers, mostly from lunch time through the afternoon, with the possibility of storms on the Sunshine Coast

Despite cloud cover, use sun protection and swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags, particularly on the afternoon ebb tide when the water draining off the beach enhances any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters

Check along the tide line for bluebottles before you go in the water, look for stinger warning signs in the patrolled areas, or ask a lifeguard. If you are stung, see the beach patrol for treatment
