Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.30am Monday 1st April 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather: The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a 50% chance of showers on the Gold Coast and a 70% chance on the Sunshine Coast. The top temperature should be 27 degrees

Wind: Light S/SW early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE during the morning, tending more E/SE and easing to 10kts during the afternoon

Swell: 0.75m E/SE on the open beaches. Smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Mooloolaba: Low @ 7.15am & 6.16pm … High @ 12.17pm

Snapper Rocks: Low @ 7.13am & 6.30pm … High @ 12.49pm

Best waves: The swell is small and lacking power in the bays on the north side of headlands, which is where the cleanest waves will be again today. It’s got a bit more size and grunt along the open stretches of beach and early this morning while the wind is light S/SW, it would be worth looking for beach breaks from Maroochydore to Caloundra and from Burleigh to Coolangatta

Best Beaches: In the forecast SE winds, the most pleasant and safest beaches for a swim will be in the bays at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. Along the open stretches of beach, there’ll be a bit more breeze and there’s deep holes and inshore gutters. On this afternoon’s ebb tide, any rips and sweep working around those holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
