Weather: The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a 70% chance of showers and a top temperature of 28 degrees

Wind: Light SW/S early forecast to become 10-15kts SE/NE this morning.  

Swell: 1-1.2m Easterly on the open beaches, a bit smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Noosa: High @ 4.16am & 4.54pm … Low @ 11.15am

Snapper Rocks: High @ 4.04am & 4.42pm … Low @ 11am  

Best waves: With a forecast of onshore winds, the cleanest waves today will be early on the beach breaks and the points while the wind is light SW/S.

The tide is a bit full on the points this morning, but is already ebbing, so wave quality will improve in the next couple of hours, when there’s less water on the banks. During the day, it will depend on how fresh the onshore wind is. If it stays light, there will be surfable waves all day, but not the best quality  

Best Beaches: The safest options for a swim will be in the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay.

Along the open stretches of beach, there’s a lot of deep holes and inshore gutters and from dawn until late morning when the tide is ebbing, any rips and sweep working in and around those holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach. Swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags

In SE/NE winds there’s always a chance bluebottles will get blown ashore, so before you go in the water, check along the tide line for them, look for stinger warning signs in the patrolled areas, or ask a lifeguard if there’s been any about. If you are stung, seek treatment from the beach patrol
