Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.30am 16th March 2024
Weather:
The forecast is for a partly cloudy during the day with a 60-70% chance of showers and a top temperature of 27 degrees
Wind:
10-15kts S/SW early, forecast to become 15-20kts SE with stronger gusts this morning
Swell:
There’s a 2m plus S/SE swell with an underlying 1m Easterly swell in offshore waters. As the swell refracts onto the SE Qld beaches, it’s about 1-1.5m E/SE on the open northern stretches of the Sunshine & Gold Coasts and along the Tweed Coast and smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands
Tides:
Low 7am & 6.30pm … High 12.30pm
Best waves:
There’s more swell on the open northern ends of the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, but conditions are messy. The only options today, given the forecast fresh SE winds, will be the points and bays on the north side of headlands. It will be crowded. So be nice to each other
Best Beaches:
The best beaches in the forecast SE winds will the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. When the tide is ebbing through the afternoon, the water draining off the beach will enhance any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters. Use sun protection and swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
