Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued 5.40am 7th February 2024
Wind:
Light SW/SE early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE this morning, freshening to 15-20kts this afternoon
Swell:
Gold Coast: 0.75-1m Easterly
Sunshine Coast: 1-1.2m Easterly
Tides:
High: 6.30am & 6.30pm … Low: 1pm
Best waves:
The easterly swell is holding and with SE winds forecast for today, the best waves will be on the points, particularly as the tide falls off during the morning
Best Beaches:
The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with the chance of showers. The best beaches for a swim in SE winds are the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay.
Use sun protection and swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags. As we approach the New Moon on Saturday night, tidal differences are increasing and there’ll be big morning high tides. When those big tides ebb, the increased volume of water draining off the beach, enhances the rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters We recommend you have a look at the Learn to Read the Beach article on this page and look at the videos on how to spot and survive rips below this report
