Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued 5.40am 1st February 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Wind:

10kt SW/SE winds early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE, reaching 15-20kts this afternoon

Swell:

1m Easterly with bigger set waves

Tides:

Low 5.45am & 6.15pm … High Midday

Best waves:

Gold Coast: With S/SW winds early forecast to become SE during the day, the cleanest waves are on the points At Burleigh, Currumbin Alley, Kirra and from Snapper Rocks to Coolangatta.

Sunshine Coast: A bit more size at the Bluff at Alex and Moffats today. There’s small ones running down the inner bays at Noosa and it is worth looking at the outer bays for a bit more size.

Best Beaches:

The forecast is partly cloudy, with a few morning showers and the best beaches for a swim in the forecast SE winds are Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount, Mooloolaba and Main Beach Noosa.

Recent heavy rain is causing a lot of dirty water to run out of rivers and creeks and it’s worst on the ebb tides. Swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags, particularly this afternoon on the ebb tide, as the water draining off the beach will enhance the rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters
