Gold & Sunshine Coast Forecast issued at 5pm Tuesday 26th March for Wednesday 27th March 2024
Weather: Tomorrow’s forecast is cloudy with a 90-95% chance of rain and a top temperature of 25-26 degrees
Wind: A little trough sitting over the SE Qld coast has been playing havoc with the wind forecasts. For the past couple of days, the BOM has been predicting E/SE winds along the coast, but it has been mostly light S/SE. The wind forecast for tomorrow is for light S/SW early, becoming 10-15kts E/SE during the morning, possibly fresher at times. If that trough is still there in the morning, the same thing could happen
Swell: 1m E/SE on the open beaches. Smaller in the inner bays on the north side of headlands
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 9.06am … Low @ 3.14pm … Snapper Rocks: High @ 8.47am … Low @ 2.54pm
Best waves: With the wind forecast being uncertain due to a small trough sitting along the SE Qld coast, it’s very hard to predict the wind speed and direction and therefore surf conditions for tomorrow. Wind should be light S/SW early, so the best advice would be to look for beach breaks and small point waves early and see what it does during the day
Best Beaches: With more rain forecast for tomorrow, it’s not looking good for a day at the beach. If you do want to swim in the surf, the safest beaches will be the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. On the ebb tide from mid morning to mid afternoon, any rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach, particularly on the open stretches of beach. Swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
