The 2nd southern closure for 2023 for the taking of Spanish mackerel in waters south of 22˚S (located slightly north of Stanage Bay, between Mackay and Yeppoon) to the NSW border started on 1 March and will finish on 21 March.
Hervey Bay
Longtail and mack tuna in Platypus Bay, queenfish on the flats in the western bay, school mackerel at the Fairway Buoy and Burrum 8 Mile, coral trout, cod and grassy sweetlip on the inshore reefs, trevally in the current lines around the bay islands, barramundi, grunter bream, threadfin and blue salmon in Sandy Straits, flathead, mangrove jack, grunter bream and mud crabs in the creeks on the western side of Fraser Island, trevally off the Urangan jetty and mud crabs in the creeks.
