Hervey Bay

Longtail and mack tuna off Wathumba, sweetlip, blackall, cod, coral trout and grunter bream in Gatakers Bay and it would be worth fishing for sand whiting on the making tide along the beaches from Burrum Heads to Urangan.

Northern Moreton Bay

There is a lot of fresh coming down the rivers and creeks and the best place to fish is near the mouth on the flooding tide where the clean water meets the fresh. Expect to catch bream, flathead, whiting and mud crabs.

FRESHWATER FISHING

Lake Monduran

There has been a bit of a rise in water level since the rain and fishing has been tough. As the water levels settle fishing should improve; the full moon might bring the barra on.

Boondooma Dam

The dam was fishing okay until the southeasters freshened. The best bet is to fish with bait around the timber areas.

Somerset Dam

Bass on chatter baits fished close to the bottom at the Spit, Pelican Point and Bay 13. The best fishing has been from mid-morning to mid-afternoon.

Hinze Dam

The western arm is now open for recreational use.  Bass early morning on surface lures along the newly flooded grassy banks, during the day on vibration baits along the drop offs and at dusk on jerk baits close to the timbered edges.

Moogerah Dam

Bass on chatter and vibration baits along the old river bed in the upper reaches of the creek.

Maroon Dam

Bass early morning on small poppers in the upper reaches of the creek and during the day on vibration lures in the deeper parts.
