From the Coastwatch Vault, this John Charlton story on the 98 Billabong Challenge. Held on the south coast of NSW in quality big waves, there were 9 surfers invited to compete. Hawaiians Kahlani Robb, Sunny Garcia, Pancho Sullivan and Shane Dorian. Californians Rob Machado, Tom Curren and Taylor Knox and Australians Luke Egan and Mark Occhilupo. The event was won by Shane Dorian.
