800lb BLUE MARLIN – Cairns 50th Anniversary Tournament

In 1966 the first 1000lb black marlin was caught off Cairns, Australia. To celebrate this milestone every ten years there is a fantastic tournament where Australia’s best sportfishing boats gather to compete. 2016 saw the 50th Anniversary event and we were invited to ride aboard the Calypso with Capt Tim Dean. It was spectacular weather and while we didn’t catch any grander blacks a surprise 800lb blue marlin crashed the party and put on one hell of a show.
