Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.40am 7th March 2024

Weather:

The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a low chance of showers on the Gold Coast and a medium chance on the Sunshine Coast and a top temperature of 29 degrees

Wind:

5-10kts S/SW early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE this morning, reaching 15-20kts at times during the day

Swell:

1m E/SE on the open beaches, a bit smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands.

Tides:

High: 6am & 6pm … Low 12.30pm

Best waves:

It looks like a replay of yesterday. SE winds are forecast and the points and bays on the north side of headlands will have the cleanest conditions. There’s a pretty big high tide soon and most breaks are full and slow, with Rainbow Bay to Greenmount, Currumbin Alley and Burleigh being the best on the Gold Coast. On the Sunshine Coast, Noosa is hardly breaking, there’s a few full ones at The Bluff at Alex and Moffat’s is worth a look. As the tide falls off during the morning and there’s less water on the banks, it should improve

Best Beaches:

SE winds are forecast once again and the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay offer the best shelter from the wind and have smaller swell than the open beaches, which will be windier.

As we approach the new Moon on Sunday night, tidal differences are increasing which means more water pushing around on the making tides. The tide will be ebbing through the morning and as the increased volume of water drains off the beach, any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced. Use sun protection and swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags.
