Hervey Bay / Fraser Island Coast
Tides & Moon: Early morning low tides around 6.30am, and afternoon high tides around 12.30pm, for further information, click here.
BEACH
Recently the Gold and Sunshine Coast have experienced a consistent run of east swell, creating dangerous beach conditions. Beach swimming is not advised due to unstable sand banks and rip currents. This weekend is forecast to be much the same on the Gold and Sunshine Coast with current water temp at 22 degrees. The best spots will be Tally creek on the Gold Coast during the incoming tide and Mooloolaba Beach on the Sunshine Coast.
SURFING
For the Surfers, the East swell is holding firm at around 1.2m at 9 seconds Friday through to Sunday which should see fun waves peaking around 3-4ft on the open beaches and point breaks over the weekend and into next week. Unfortunately, it will be hard to escape the stronger North East winds, so get into the water nice and early!!
BOATING & FISHING
With this combination of East swell and wind, all bar crossings up and down the coast will be unpredictable and dangerous. There may be a small window of opportunity Friday morning early with glassy ocean conditions forecast, however take care on the low tide bar crossing, and remember to always wear your life jacket!!!
Don’t forget to check out the comprehensive COASTWATCH FISHING REPORT on the website covering Hervey Bay to Evans Head.
Overall, a few possible showers, up to 5mm predicted for Sunday at this stage. Have a great weekend!!!
