Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.55am Tuesday 18th June 2024
Weather Forecast: Sunny, with a top temperature of 21°
Wind Forecast: 5-10kts W/SW early, freshening during the morning to about 10-15kts
Swell: 1m SE on the northern ends of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and along the Tweed Coast. Smaller and more E/SE inside the bays on the north side of headlands
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 4.52am & 6.02pm … Low @ 11.10am
Snapper Rocks: High @ 5.02am & 5.54pm … Low @ 11.09am
Best waves: The best waves are on the Gold Coast points. Also worth a look for beach breaks along the open beaches. If you are willing to drive to Byron Bay, there’s some nice longboard waves at The Pass
For some surfing history, check the daily videos from the Coastwatch Vault at the bottom of this page
Best Beaches: Another typical winter’s day for the beach, sunny but cool and most beaches will be pleasant. However, with cool W/SW winds forecast, there will be some wind chill factor, so finding a spot against the dunes or in front of high rise buildings, where there’s less wind, would be a good idea. There’s inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches of beach and any rips and sweep working around them, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the morning ebb tide, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
