Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.50am Monday 22nd April 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy with a 70-80% chance of showers and a top temperature of 25°

Wind Forecast: Varying between moderate Southerly on the Gold Coast and fresh SE on the Sunshine Coast early, forecast to become fresh to strong SE this morning, easing a little this afternoon

Swell: 1.2–1.5m E/SE with bigger sets

Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 7.01am & 7.36pm … Low @ 1.16pm

Snapper Rocks: High @ 6.51am & 7.23pm … Low @ 1.03pm

Best waves: If the forecast of fresh to strong SE winds is correct, the points and bays on the northern side of headlands will be the best options. They’ll be a bit full this morning on the high tide, but improve as the tide falls off

Best Beaches: It looks like being a partly cloudy day, with a very pretty high chance of showers, so not the best beach weather. In the forecast fresh SE winds, the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will be the best beaches

It will be full moon tomorrow night, so big tidal differences. There’s enough swell to cause swimmers problems and there’s inshore holes and gutters along the beaches, particularly along the open stretches. On the morning ebb tide, any rips and sweep working around those holes and gutters will be enhanced as the increased volume of water drains off the beach, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
