Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.45am Sunday 26th May 2024
Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy with an 80% chance of showers and a top temperature of 23°
Wind Forecast: 5-10kts SW/S early, becoming 10-15kts S/SE during the morning, easing to about 10kts in the early afternoon
Swell: It looks like a replay of yesterday and most of last week. 0.75m E/SE and lacking power on the northern ends of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and along the Tweed Coast. Smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands and flat on high tide and tiny on low tide in the inner bays at Noosa
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 9.32am … Low 3.21pm
Snapper Rocks: High @ 9.23am … Low @ 3.04pm
Best waves: With light SW/S winds early, look for small waves on the beach breaks and on the points. Either side of the mid morning high tide, the points will be a bit full, but should be better early this morning and in the afternoon on the lower part of the tides, when there’s less water on the banks
Best Beaches: A partly cloudy day with an 80% chance of showers isn’t a great forecast for a day at the beach. The predicted SW/SE winds will be chilly and the best beaches offering shelter in winds from that direction are the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. There’s inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches of beach and any rips and sweep working around those features, will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the mid morning to afternoon ebb tide, so despite the small swell, swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
