Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.45am Saturday 13th April 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy with 40% chance of showers and a top temperature of 26 degrees

Wind Forecast: 10kts S/SW early, becoming 10kts Southerly this morning and 10kts SE during the day, reaching 10-15kts at times on the Sunshine Coast. There is a chance the wind could swing light SE/NE this afternoon, particularly on the Gold Coast

Swell: 0.5-1m SE/E. A bit bigger on northern ends of the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and the Tweed and Byron Coasts

Tides: Mooloolaba: Low @ 5.52am & 5.01pm … High 11.09am

Snapper Rocks: Low @ 6.05am & 5.10pm … High 11.45am

Best waves: The swell has dropped a bit today and there’s small ones on the points on the lower part of the tide, but will become a bit too full either side of the late morning high, improving during the afternoon as the tide falls off. The inner bays at Noosa are almost flat, but a walk to the outer bays might find a few rideable waves. With light S/SW winds this morning, look for beach breaks from Maroochydore to Caloundra and Currumbin to Coolangatta, where you are a better chance of avoiding the weekend crowds.

Best Beaches: It should be a partly cloudy day with a few showers, but not a bad day for the beach. The best beaches in the forecast S/SE to SE winds, will be the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay, but with light winds expected all day, most beaches will be OK. Be aware that there are inshore holes and gutters along the open stretches of beach and on the afternoon ebb tide, any rips and sweep working around those holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
