Gold & Sunshine Coast Report issued at 5.35am Monday 29th April 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy, with a 40% chance of showers on the Gold Coast and a 70% chance on the Sunshine Coast and a top temperature of 25°

Wind Forecast: 10kts S/SW early, becoming 10-15kts SE during the morning

Swell: 0.5-1m Easterly

Tides: Mooloolaba: Low @ 6.02am & 5.02pm … High @ 11.15am

Snapper Rocks: Low @ 5.50am & 5pm … High @ 11.23am

Best waves: It looks like a replay of yesterday, with small, clean waves on the points and early beach breaks on the open beaches while the wind is light S/SW. The Gold Coast Pro is on at Snapper Rocks through Rainbow Bay until May 4th, so you’ll have to surf outside the contest area, or at Currumbin Alley or Burleigh. On the Sunshine Coast, it’s really small in the inner bays at Noosa, but there’s some longboard play waves on the lower parts of the tide and The Bluff at Alex and Moffats are other options.

Best Beaches: In the forecast light to moderate SE winds, the bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will be the most pleasant and safest beaches. Along the open stretches of beach there’s inshore holes and gutters and any rips and sweep working around those features will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach on the afternoon ebb tide, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
