Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.30am for Saturday 23rd March 2024
Weather: The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a 50-60% chance of showers and a top temperature of 27 degrees
Wind: Light S/SW early, becoming 10-15kts SE during the morning
Swell: 1–1.2m E/SE with the odd bigger one on the open beaches, a bit smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands
Tides: Mooloolaba: High @ 7.12am & 7.32pm … Low @ 1.33pm … Snapper Rocks: High @ 6.48am & 7.13pm … Low @ 1.14pm
Best waves: It’s been typical March conditions, SE winds and good swell. This should continue today, although the swell is a bit smaller than it has been. The points and bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Currumbin Alley, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay will have the cleanest waves. They’ll be a bit full either side of high tide, but should improve through the morning as the tide falls off and there’s less water on the banks
Best Beaches: Showers and moderate to fresh SE winds are forecast for today, so the best and safest options for a swim will be in the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay
It’s full moon Monday night and the tides are getting bigger, so on the ebb tide through the morning until early afternoon, any rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced as the water drains off the beach. Swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
