Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.30am 18th February 2024
Wind:
5-10kts SW/S early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE during the morning
Swell:
1-1.2m Easterly
Tides:
Low: 10.45am … High: 3.45pm
Best waves:
The Easterly swell continues, although it’s a bit smaller today and with light S/SW winds early, have a look for beach breaks to try and escape the crowds on the points, which will be the best option when the wind swings SE. On the Gold Coast, Snapper Rocks to Coolangatta has the best waves, but the other points are worth a look.
On the Sunshine Coast, early winds are more Southerly, so the beach breaks are a bit uneven. It’s small in the inner bays at Noosa and a walk to the outer bays might find a bit more size and power. The Bluff at Alex and Moffats are other options
Best Beaches:
The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a 40% chance of morning showers. You can still get sunburnt on cloudy days, so use sun protection.
Swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags, particularly this morning and late this afternoon on the ebb tides. Although tidal differences are currently small, when the water drains off the beach as the tide falls off, any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced
