Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.30am 17th March 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Weather: The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with an 80% chance of showers and a top temperature of 27 degrees

Wind: 5-10kts S/SW early, forecast to become 10-15kts E/SE during the morning, and becoming Easterly on the Gold Coast

Swell: 1-1.5m E/SE on the open northern stretches of the Sunshine & Gold Coasts and along the Tweed Coast. Smaller in the bays on the north side of headlands

Tides: Noosa: Low 8.36am … High 1.30pm … Snapper Rocks: 9.08am … High 2.44pm

Best waves: In the forecast winds, the cleanest waves today will be on the points and in the bays on the north side of headlands. Hit it early, before the wind goes too easterly, particularly on the Gold Coast

Best Beaches: The best beaches in the forecast winds will the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay. Early this morning and from mid to late afternoon, when the tide is ebbing and the water drains off the beach, any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced, so swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags

In Easterly winds there’s always a chance bluebottles will get blown ashore, so before you go in the water, check along the tide line for them, look for stinger warning signs in the patrolled areas, or ask a lifeguard if there’s been any about. If you are stung, seek treatment from the beach patrol
