Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.25am 28th February 2024
Weather:
The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a low chance of showers and a top temperature of 30 degrees
Wind:
Gold Coast: 5-10kts SW/S early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE this morning, tending SE/E during the day
Sunshine Coast: 5-10kts S/SW early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE during the morning
Swell:
0.5-0.75m Easterly
Tides:
Low 4am & 4.30pm … High: 10.15am
Best waves:
Not much doing this morning. The swell is small and lacking power. You could go hunting for beach breaks on the open beaches from Burleigh south, but don’t expect much. The beach breaks on the Sunshine Coast are lumpy due to last night’s SE wind.
With SE winds forecast, it’s a day for the points and best suited to long or high volume boards. It’s small on the Gold Coast points, but there will be some fun little waves as the tide makes this morning. It’s really small in the inner bays at Noosa and maybe a walk to the outer bays might find a bit more size. The Bluff at Alex and Moffats are worth a look
Best Beaches:
Based on the forecast SE winds, the best beaches for a swim today will the bays on the northern side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh. Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay and this morning on the making tide will be safest.
When the tide is ebbing from late morning through the afternoon, any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced. Swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags and make sure you use sun protection
