Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.20am 19th February 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Wind:

5-10kts S/SW early, forecast to become 10-15kts E/SE during the morning

Swell:

0.75-1m Easterly with the odd bigger one

Tides:

High: 5am & 5.15pm … Low 11.45am

Best waves:

Winds are light S/SW winds early and the best waves are on the points, but the beach breaks are also worth a look. If the wind swings E/SE as forecast, wave quality will deteriorate and the best waves will be in the sheltered bays on the north side of the headlands

Best Beaches:

The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a 90% chance of afternoon showers and storms on the Gold Coast and a 70% chance on the Sunshine Coast. You can still get sunburnt on cloudy days, so use sun protection

The best beaches for a swim in E/SE winds are Main Beach Noosa, Mooloolaba, the corner at Burleigh, Greenmount and Kirra. Swim in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags, particularly this morning on the ebb tide. When the water drains off the beach as the tide falls off, any rips and sweep working in and around the inshore holes and gutters will be enhanced

Watch out for bluebottles by checking along the tide line before you go in the water, look for stinger warning signs in the patrolled areas, or ask a lifeguard if there’s been any about. If you are stung seek help from the beach patrol
