Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued 5.30am 9th February 2024

Surf & Beach Report

Wind:

10-15kts S/SE early, forecast to become SE this morning and freshen to 15-20kts

Swell:

1-1.5m Easterly

Tides:

High: 8am … Low: 2.30pm

Best waves:

A low in the Coral Sea and a high in the Tasman Sea are combining to keep producing an easterly swell along the Gold and Sunshine Coast beaches. SE winds are forecast again for today, so the cleanest waves will be on the points. There’s a big morning high tide and most breaks are a bit full. Like yesterday, the best quality waves will late morning and through the afternoon on the lower parts of the tide

Best Beaches:

The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with the chance of showers, mostly this morning. The best beaches for a swim in SE winds are the sheltered bays on the north side of the headlands at Noosa, Mooloolaba, Burleigh, Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay

It’s New Moon tomorrow night and there are big morning high tides. When those big high tides ebb, the increased volume of water draining off the beach, enhances the rips and sweep working around the inshore holes and gutters. Use sun protection and swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
