Fishing Report

The annual barramundi closed season along Queensland’s east coast starts from midday 1st November to midday 1st February 2024 except in stocked impoundments.

Hervey Bay

Red emperor, maori cod, coronation trout and red throat in 40 to 65 metres east of Breaksea Spit, snapper, pearl perch and jobfish in 100 metres, spotty mackerel, longtail and mack tuna off Rooneys, Coongul and Arch Cliffs, trevally around the inshore shipwrecks, queenfish on the flats in the western bay, grassy sweetlip, coral trout, estuary cod and blackall on the shallow reefs, flathead on Booral flats, sand whiting at Toogoom, grunter bream at night along Pialba Beach, flathead, trevally, mackerel, garfish and pencil squid off the Urangan Jetty, school jew, threadfin and blue salmon in the Mary River and mangrove jack in the middle reaches of the Burrum River.

Northern Moreton Bay

Longtail tuna and school mackerel in the northern bay, school mackerel near the old four beacons, mahi mahi around the FADs, snapper at dawn and dusk at Cooks Rock, flathead and mangrove jack in the Pine and Caboolture Rivers, sand whiting on the making tide at the mouth of the creeks that run off Pumicestone Passage and it would be worth setting a few pots for mud crabs in the rivers and creeks.
