A reminder that to allow spawning to take place, barramundi fishing along the east coast of Queensland is banned for three months from 1st November, for both commercial fishermen and recreational anglers. Fishing is still permitted in stocked impoundments that fall under the Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS).
Hervey Bay
Coral trout, grassy sweetlip and cod on the inshore reefs; however, sharks are a big problem. Longtail and mack tuna in Platypus Bay and the shipping channels around the islands, grassy sweetlip, coral trout and grunter bream in Gatakers Bay, grunter bream and whiting along the beaches from Burrum Heads to Urangan, mangrove jack in the Burrum River and mud crabs in the rivers and creeks.
