Hervey Bay
Coral trout, red emperor, sweetlip, moses perch, hussar and tuskfish in the Gutters, trevally, scarlet sea perch, grunter bream and cobia off Rooney Point and in Platypus Bay, queenfish on the flats, grunter bream in the channels and mulloway around the rocky ledges in Sandy Straits, diver whiting off Burrum Heads, Toogoom and Gatakers Bay, bream and pencil squid at night off the Urangan jetty, sand crabs in the bay and mud crabs in the Mary River. Plenty of juvenile mackerel throughout the bay, remember 50cm is the minimum legal size for school mackerel, carry a measuring stick and make sure they’re legal.
Fraser Island
Bream, tarwhine, flathead and a few jew around Yidney and Poyungan Rocks along the eastern beach and flathead at the mouth of the creeks along the western side.
