There hasn’t been much fishing done this week due to strong SE winds, rough seas and a big swell. Any fishing that was done was in very sheltered waters in estuaries, rivers, creeks and dams and the reports below will reflect that. Winds should be lighter this weekend, particularly on Sunday, but it’s looking like once again, the best fishing conditions will be in those more sheltered waters.
The southern Spanish mackerel closed seasons for east coast waters south of latitude 22˚S (located slightly north of Stanage Bay, between Mackay and Yeppoon) to the NSW border are from 1st to 21st of February and 1st to 21st of March.
Hervey Bay
Grassy sweetlip, coral trout and grunter bream on the shallow reefs early morning before the wind freshens, grunter bream, threadfin salmon and barramundi in Sandy Straits, barramundi, threadfin and blue salmon in the lower reaches of the Mary River and barramundi and mangrove jack in the Burrum River.

Tin Can Bay
