Gold & Sunshine Coast Report Issued at 5.30am 14th March 2024
Weather:
The forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a 40% chance of showers and a top temperature of 29 degrees
Wind:
Gold Coast: 10kts S/SE early, forecast to become 10-15kts SE this morning and Easterly late morning
Sunshine Coast: 10-15kts E/SE this morning, reaching 15kts plus at times during the day
Swell:
2m Easterly on the open beaches. Smaller in the inner bays on the northern side of headlands
Tides:
Low 4.45am & 5pm … High 10.45am
Best waves:
If the forecast is right, the good run of solid point waves is coming to an end, with winds forecast to go into the east today. The easterly swell looks like it’s dropped a bit as well, but there’s still enough there to provide good waves on the points this morning, with Snapper Rocks to Kirra being the best on the Gold Coast and on the Sunshine Coast, Noosa is the cleanest. Hit it before the wind goes onshore
Best Beaches:
Despite the swell decreasing a bit, swimming in the surf is still potentially dangerous. Some beaches will once again be closed and it’s important to not to go in the water if they are. If they are open, don’t go in unless you are a strong swimmer and if you do, don’t go out of your depth and swim only in the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags
